Mission Statement: In an effort to prevent or diminish the impact of Postpartum Mood and Anxiety Disorders, Heartsounds doulas provide practical, informational, and emotional in-home support to struggling mothers. Through our work we bring new families peace of mind, reassurance and confidence in their own instincts and abilities to parent. We have been serving Tucson since 2007.
In Tucson, Arizona, 20% of all new mothers struggle with a perinatal mood disorder such as postpartum depression or anxiety. This is the most common complication of childbirth. If left untreated, this has negative long-lasting effects on the baby, the mom, and the entire family.
But Heartsounds is here to help.
Heartsounds: Mother and Infant Care is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that helps newly postpartum mothers (and their entire families) via specially-trained lay worker, or doula. This treatment has been proven to be effective in lessening the devastating symptoms of postpartum depression and anxiety and other perinatal mood disorders.
